Transdev Services, Inc. operates public transportation services under contract with governmental entities in North America. Here in Las Vegas, Transdev is the contract operator for the Regional Transportation Commission’s (RTC) paratransit service since August 3, 2014. The paratransit share ride service provides public transportation for people with disabilities, as required by federal law, specific to those who are functionally unable to independently use regular public transportation. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle; sets correct destination and route signs
Operates various types of vehicles, as assigned, safely, in all types of weather and traffic conditions, according to printed passenger schedules and Operators schedules
Arrives and signs in on time; works hours as scheduled; wears clean, neat uniforms
Picks up and discharges passengers at scheduled locations safely; regulates heating and ventilating equipment on the bus for the comfort of passengers
Collects proper cash fares, following fare collection procedures
Reports all accidents, incidents, or unusual occurrences to dispatch office immediately; submits written reports on accidents, incidents or unusual occurrences as required
Accurately completes all reports
Follows rules and regulations of the Company
Adheres to all regulations related to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); assists passengers as needed, to enter and exit vehicle safely; correctly operates wheelchair lift with proper safety restraints as requested by the customer
Provides transit information to passengers as needed
Other duties as required.
Compensation : $13.00 per hour (training rate). Hourly wage increases after training period (per the respective Collective Bargaining Agreement)
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Required :
Education, Licensing, and Certifications Preferred :
High school diploma or equivalent, such as GED, preferred
Possession of a valid Class C or higher Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger endorsement preferred
- 1-2 years of previous bus or other heavy duty vehicle driving experience preferred
Skills and Knowledge Required:
Read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public, to understand highway traffic signs and signals in the English language, to respond to official inquiries, and to make entries on reports and records.
Must be able to work weekends, days and evenings, nights and holidays.
Must be able to use company communications systems, and communicate clearly and effectively in person and over the radio.
Must be able to read a map and possess knowledge of the service area.
Must be hospitable, guest/customer service oriented, and be willing to serve the needs of passengers.
Additional certification requirements must be met under Section 391.49 of the DOT code concerning the loss or impairment of limbs.
Travel requirement (as a percent): 100% of time is spent in the field
- Must submit to drug testing and a criminal background check
Must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules. Preference of shifts/work schedule time or dates will be disqualified.MUST be open to all available shifts.
Primarily seated in vehicle; stress caused by passengers and traffic; must be able to get in and out of the vehicle to assist passengers; some pulling and stretching required when assisting disabled
Must be able to work in all types of weather
